Phi Phi Island Thailand

Koh Phi Phi in Thailand is one of the most popular tourist island, well known for being the filming location for the movie “The Beach” with Leonardo Dicaprio. The Koh Phi Phi are the absolute dream with crystal clear waters, relaxing beaches, many long tail boats and beautiful corals

There are a lot of amazing places and things to see on Koh Phi Phi. The following are the 5 things that I thought of the highlight points and should be definitely visited.

Here’s what to see!

Maya Bay

Maya Bay Phi Phi island

Maya Bay is located on Phi Phi Leh Island.  Surrounded by limestone. The beach is stunning, with crystal clear waters and white sand. You’ll enjoy snorkeling, see the colorful coral reefs and lots of fish. Moreover, Maya Bay is world-renowned, after being used as the filming location for the movie "The Beach" with Leonardo Dicaprio.

You can get to Maya Bay by Phi Phi boat tour or you can rent a long tail boat for your own.

Note: Maya Bay, which has been closed to the public since last year, to allow coral restoration and beach recovery, would remain closed to visitors indefinitely until nature has fully recovered.

Phi Phi View point

Amazing Phi Phi viewpoint

Phi Phi viewpoint is one of the best things to see in Koh Phi Phi that you should not miss!

There are two viewpoints you can visit; named “ Phi Phi viewpoint 1” and “ Phi Phi viewpoint 2” Views from both viewpoints are similar. However, the second viewpoint is much higher and you can see the best view from here. When looking down from the viewpoint, you will see Ton Sai Bay and Loh Dalum Bay bend together.

The viewpoints are pretty easy to find. You have to follow the signs “viewpoint” located at various points. It will take you 20-30 minutes to get there. When you arrive at Phi Phi viewpoint 1 you must pay for the entrance fee 30 Baht.

The Viking Cave is one of Koh Phi Phi’s main tourist attractions. Located north of Piley Bay on the east coast of Phi Phi Leh. Inside the cave there are a prehistoric painting that were found on a cave walls that resembles ancient Viking ships. But this cave no visitors are allowed into the cave nowadays. You can only see the entrance of the cave. Due to there are lots of ledges which are inhabited by thousands of birds called swifts. These birds will build their nests, Which are later harvested and sold to make birds nest soup in Chinese cooking.

You can get there by Phi Phi boat tour for one day trip, usually they will stop their boats close enough to the cave for you to see inside and take a pictures or you can rent a long tail boat for your own.

Monkey beach

Monkey beach Phi Phi island

Monkey Beach is located on the southwestern side of Tonsai Bay, about 700m from the jetty. It’s great snorkeling spot. Here you’ll find clear water, beautiful coral and colorful fishes. If you go in the morning or in the afternoon you might get to see wild monkeys that come down from the cliffs to find food from tourists.

These wild monkeys are not afraid of people. You shouldn't approach them.  You may be bitten.

You can get to Monkey beach either by rent a long tail boat from Tonsai bay or rent a kayak and make about 40 minutes journey by yourself.
